Evaluate to Motivate...

Image
My Club's president Tony Sabastian conducted an Evaluation session during the last meeting I attended and thought I share with you all the notes I took down during the session. To be a good evaluator, Listening is important, there are myths about evaluation that we tend to overlook; some of them are: the speaker is more advanced than me my job is to tell the speaker what he did right or wrong sandwich technique (Good, Bad and Concluding with Good) Because the role of evaluator in Toastmasters is misunderstood, the evaluator is to: give the speaker feedback in regards the speakers speech tell the speaker what went well and suggest how he improve the effectiveness of the speech (Present ideas to him) if part of the speech is good and another is bad, it demoralizes the speaker, however, you can tell him what is good and what could make the speech better is more inspiring. Another thing Toastmasters forget is the use of its motto in eveluation ("Better Lietening, Better

My Business Model

Image
For over a year, I have been trying to put a business plan for an online company I and my collueagues are working on, after the first draft of the business plan, I was searching online and then I came across Business Model, I said to myself, "wait a second, Am I missing something here".  After reading more about business model, I got my answer, that Yes, I am missing something and I began to google more on business model. I came across some websites that are really interesting, one of them is a blog of Alex Osterwalder called the Business Model Alchemist  and then this cool website by Board of Innovation , they have some cool stuffs on Business Model. One of the things that interest me is that, Alex Osterwalder is developing an iPad app for Business Model which I guess would be a great app that will change the Entrepreneurship world. Another thing from Alex is his latest book called Business Model Generation  which can be bought from either Amazon or other Online bookstore

Saturday is Presidential Election!

Image
Last week, Nigeria saw the best election ever conducted by INEC, the foreign observers gave them a thumb-up for doing a great job, there was malpractice in some places, but it was not like before, INEC managed to minimise it. Tomorrow, Nigerians will go to polls to elect their new President, there are four major Candidates in the race, the incumbent President, Goodluck Johnathan of PDP, Nuhu Ribadu of ACN, Muhammadu Buhari of CPC and Ibrahim Shekarau of ANPP. For the last year, Nigerians have been calling for change, and I think this is the time we make this change happen. I want to talk about this change in this election, Nigeria with 43 million Internet users, alot of people are on facebook, Twitter and BB Messenger talking about this election. During the National Assembly election, Nigeria were reporting live the happenings of the entire process from all over the nation, Any polling unit that have finished counting, people immediately post or tweet the result online for others t

As Nigerians go to vote the next set of Legislators (Senators and Members of the house of Representative) tomorrow, One thing is for sure, the result might be out in 48 hours according to the INEC Boss Prof. Attahiru Jega. I have been following the activities of the election from here, but I can tell you that we are going to see alot of surprises in some states, I am from Katsina, the home state of the CPC's Presidential Candidate with PDP currently the incumbent, there might be surprises in some places, but the Senatorial zone that I will keep an eye on is the Daura Zone, The Incumbent PDP Senator Mahmud Kanti Bello aka RODI is standing against CPC's Hadi Sirika/Audu Yandoma and some other aspirants. Rumours were spreading out last week about the death of Kanti Bello, when I spoke to my source in Katsina, he said its the work of the opposition, that his death might give them votes or why should I vote for a dead man? that kind of thing. I told a frend that, one of the seats a

My Personal Domain & April 2 Election Postponed!

Almost all Nigerians waited for this day to come, they day Nigeria will face an acid test in conducting a free and fair election with Professor Attahiru Jega at the Helm of Affairs. On the electoral time-table, The first Election will be conducted on 2nd April which is Today, but the election was postponed due to some logistics problems. The INEC Chairman made an announcement cancelling todays election until Monday 4th April.  What fascinated me about the election is not its cancellation, but people's participation in making sure that their votes count, Many web platforms were set up to highlight how the election is conducted while others allows voters to report any Electoral malpractice, A site like Rigging Report allows you to report any electoral malpractice happening around your location. The Social media was full of updates, from Facebook to twitter, messages about the Election is flowing like a running river, that shows how hungry people are for this election to be free and
