Me and my frends celebrated the sallah celebration offshore, i cooked tuwon shinkafa and miyan taushe, a friend helped us with fried rice, we had Suya and some drinks also, but no kunun zaki nor sobo and neither did we have ginger drink, those are the one's missing, we also made alot of things as usual as how it is made locally in Nigeria, we had fun that time, its indeed a memorable eve nt that will be treasured forever in life. We some concerned indigenes of Katsina State want to share the idea of forming the association of Katsina State Computer Science Students. We came up with this idea because of the awareness of the level of awareness of Information and communication Technology (ICT) in the state. A newspaper report reported that is ranked last in the terms of ICT development and deployment and this report boosted our effort of forming this association. Also, the number of students studying computer science in the tertiary levels both in Nigeria and abroad from Katsina State is very much and this also is an issue that makes us to look into.We also want to help one another by sharing the ideas and experiences we have in our fields of study with our colleagues. KATSINA state is seriously lagging behind in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in spite of the establishment of computer centres in 30 selected secondary schools by the government.The observation was contained in a report submitted to the government by the state Development Summit Committee.It noted that in spite of government’s decision to establish computer centres in 30 selected secondary schools and tertiary institutions, the usage and awareness of ICT is very low.The report said while some states have already forged ahead in computer knowledge acquisition, the state is still far behind.It recommended that adequate ICT infrastructure be provided for use by public institutions.It also suggested that computer skills acquisition be introduced in all public schools, adding that 10 per cent of primary and 20 per cent of secondary schools should be targeted annually.The report recommended that all tertiary institutions should have comprehensive computer facilities, and calle...

The Nigerian Communications Limited just launched the country’s satellite called NIGCOMSAT-1 in China on Sunday 13th May, 2007.This is a Great achievement by a country like Nigeria, a country that is developing in the field of ICT and Engineering. Also, the Managing Director of Nigerian Communications Limited, Mr. Ahmed Rufai told newsmen that the country is targeting to have 10 more fleets in the orbit before the NIGCOMSAT-1 expires by 2022. This time around, it is not making calls, but it is in what you see, the project was first called "The Venice Project", but they changed the name to "joost".
